Medical Coder
Medical coders transcribe patients’ records into universal medical codes that allow them to process claims for reimbursement from providers in accordance with policies.
A medical coder should know a wide range of codes, including Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), and the International
Classification of Diseases Tenth Revision Clinical Modification (ICD-10 CM).
Responsibilities
- Account for coding and abstracting of patient encounters
- Research and analyze data needs for reimbursement
- Make sure that codes are sequenced according to government and insurance regulations
- Ensure all medical records are filed and processed correctly
- Analyze medical records and identify documentation deficiencies
- Serve as a resource and subject matter expert to other coding staff
- Review and verify documentation for diagnoses, procedures, and treatment results
- Identify diagnostic and procedural information
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1-2 years experience in the American Medical Billing System using ICD10 and CPT codes.
- Fluency in English with an American accent.
- Work-from-home conditions: Fully functioning computer, headset, and, internet with DL +10MB/s and UL +2MB/s
- Able to work US Shifts.
